Abu Dhabi Conference

Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian and Special Needs and Minor Affairs will hold a conference on blindness and visual impairment in Abu Dhabi this month, February 2010. The conference will start on February 23rd and will end on February 25th. An Adaptive Technology exhibition will also be held to display the latest technical advancements in the field of blindness and visual impairment. The exhibition hall will open to conference visitors on February 24th and 25th.

Many experts from the field will either present a paper or hold a workshop. Some will do both. Leading companies from the field will attend the conference including, but not limited to, Dolphin Computer Access, Nuance, ViewPlus Technologies, Braillo Norway, Index and Perkins School for the Blind. Mr. Torsten Brand will be in the Middle East for the first time. A person who touched the lives of blind people in the region with the introduction of Talks nine years ago. He will be representing Nuance and will present a paper and hold a workshop.

Mr. Mohammed Ramadan, Chief Technical Support Engineer of Nattiq Technologies, will hold a workshop on the Braille Sense Plus. Mr. Ali Abdul Rahim, Technical Support Engineer - Nattiq Technologies, will help our Viewplus’ friends in a workshop to highlight the benefits and features of the Tiger suite of products and Mr. Nawaf Alkhaldi from Saudi Arabia will hold a workshop on Hal screen reader. Mr. Ahmad Khater, a lecturer from Helwan University in Egypt, will present a paper and will hold a workshop on Arabic DAISY books and navigations via software and hardware players.

There will be many more presenters and lots of opportunities to meet with the experts from America, Europe and the Middle East.
